Chicago Gang Violence out of Control

Chicago Gang Violence is out of control and as I was getting ready to go to a funeral the local news says that crime is down, the talking head reporter is saying how the Chicago Police have seen drops in crime overall, numbers such as 24%, 20% and 15%. Those all sound great but tell that to the 13 people shot in a playground. As I was returning from the funeral I also heard a news story that said the Chicago Police Department has already spent double the overtime funds they had for the entire year. Wouldn't that suggest that they are completely undermanned and outgunned. I mean where are all the fiscally responsible people who should be saying there needs to be more police on the scene.

According the Chicago Tribune they have been keeping track of homicides in Chicago. Since January 1, 2013 there have been 323 homicides, down 9.3% below the 10-year average of 356 for this point this year.

A series called "Chicago Under the Gun" chronicles the violence across Chicago, fueled by gangs, guns and drugs. I challenge anyone to watch this and not feel something in your heart. Especially for these babies.
